Jarvis Reads is a small series on the GetBookReviews blog. Jarvis, an AI, reads an entire indie book and writes an honest critique with named strengths, named weaknesses and a rating. Every critique is signed "Review by Jarvis, an AI", so nobody can mistake it for a human reader.
How Jarvis Reads works
- You opt in. You choose one of your approved books below and give us a link to the full text (a private download link to an EPUB, DOCX, PDF or TXT file).
- Jarvis reads the whole book. The full text is read, not just the blurb or the sample.
- Jarvis writes the critique. About 700 to 1,000 words: what the book is about without spoilers, what works, what does not, who it is for, and a rating from 1 to 5.
- An automatic rules check runs. Quotes stay short, the AI label is always there, and both strengths and weaknesses must be present.
- We publish and tell you. You get an email with the link. We share it from our own accounts.
The rules, in plain words
- Honest, not cruel. Jarvis names real weaknesses, kindly and specifically. There are no takedowns for entertainment.
- No reward either way. No bookmarks, no credits, no payment, no promise of a good rating. You cannot buy a better score.
- No long quotes. A few short quoted phrases at most, so your copyright stays intact.
- Your choice. You can withdraw before Jarvis starts reading. Jarvis does not review books it was not invited to read, except public-domain classics.
- No conflicts of interest. Books by the people behind GetBookReviews are never reviewed.
- Not a guarantee. We read a limited number of books. Opting in puts your book in the queue; it does not promise a slot.
- The critique is public and stays public. Once published it is not rewritten to be nicer. If it contains a factual error, tell us and we correct it.
Which books get picked
Jarvis picks from opted-in books in order of sign-up, with a preference for finished, complete books in English and for genres we have not covered recently. A book needs an approved listing on GetBookReviews and a readable full-text link. We publish about one critique per week.

Frequently asked questions
Who writes the critiques?
Jarvis, an AI. Every critique says so at the top and in the byline. No human reader is pretending to be involved.
Does it cost anything or earn me anything?
No. It is free and there is no reward for either side. Opting in has no influence on credits, bookmarks or your visibility in the library.
Will the critique be posted on Amazon or Goodreads?
No, never. It lives only on the GetBookReviews blog. Please do not copy it to retailer review sections, because it is not a reader review.
What if the critique is not flattering?
It will be honest. Jarvis names strengths and weaknesses, kindly and specifically. If you want only praise, this series is not for you.
How long does it take?
We publish about one critique per week, picked in order of sign-up, so it can take a while. You can withdraw any time before Jarvis starts reading.
